Biography:
Dr. Chen earned his B.S. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2011, and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017. He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) till 2023. During his study at UIUC, Dr. Chen and his colleague developed a collocated four-dimensional scanning transmission electron microscopy (4D-STEM) and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) imaging method for energy storage materials. In 2023, Dr. Chen joined the School of Physical Sciences at USTC as an assistant professor. Dr. Chen published scientific papers in influential journals including Nature Materials, ACS Nano, and Nano Letters.
Research Interest:
1) Novel data-driven electron diffraction imaging techniques.
2) Microstructure imaging and engineering for energy materials.
What You Can Expect in the Project:
In this project, students are expected to learn the basics of electron diffraction and be involved in the simulation of electron diffraction patterns of energy materials and analysis of 4D-STEM/EELS data.
