Biography:
Dr. Yamei Li is currently a professor at the School of Earth and Space Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China. She has long been dedicated to experimental research on the evolution of organic matter in carbonaceous meteorites and asteroids and prebiotic synthesis towards origin of life on terrestrial bodies. She conducted both simulation experiments and analysis of natural terrestrial and extraterrestrial samples. By integrating heterogeneous catalysis theory on mineral, spectroscopic methods, organic analytical tools, she has been focusing on the molecular level mechanisms on mineral-organic interfaces. To date, she has published 35 SCI papers in authoritative journals in the fields of chemistry and planetary science, including Science Advances, Nature Communications, and Angewandte Chemie International Edition. Several collaborative papers have also been published in journals such as Nature Catalysis, Science Advances, and PNAS.
Research Interest:
Meteorite organic chemistry, origin of life, prebiotic chemistry
What You Can Expect in the Project:
The students will be trained in the field of astrobiology, to investigate the organic reactions on natural minerals for emergence of life and learn the techniques on organic and mineral analyses.
Desired skill and background:
The student is expected to have an interest in the related field and basic knowledge of chemistry.
